Santo Domingo.- El Ministerio Público de Elías Piña ocupó este lunes un cargamento con 5,700 municiones para fusiles en los alrededores del Palacio de Justicia del municipio Comendador de esta provincia, fronteriza con Haití.
El procurador fiscal titular de Elías Piña, Ramil Cadete Pérez, dijo a través de un comunicado de prensa, que el paquete contiene municiones calibre 7.62 x 39 milímetros.
Detalló que las investigaciones preliminares indican que las municiones iban a ser vendidas en el mercado público del municipio Comendador, próximo al Palacio de Justicia de Elías Piña.
Sobre el caso, dijo que unos individuos se transportaban en un carro blanco marca Toyota 2013, mientras que otros se desplazaban a bordo de motocicletas.
Agrega que al notar la presencia del Ministerio Público y de la Policía Nacional, el grupo huyó, dejando abandonado un motor y el citado cargamento.
El fiscal informó que las autoridades realizan una «exhaustiva investigación» para el arresto de los responsables del trasiego y proceder con las acciones judiciales pertinentes, pero que por el momento no hay personas detenidas.EFE
