Los velocistas Lidio Féliz, Alexander Ogando y Luguelín Santos, se preparan para su participación en el Campeonato Mundial de Atletismo 2022 que será celebrado en Oregón.
Gerardo Suero Correa, presidente de la Federación Dominicana de Asociaciones de Atletismo, indicó que en California, Estados Unidos, se encuentran los velocistas de 400 metros Lidio Féliz, Alexander Ogando y Luguelín Santos, el ganador de medalla de plata en los Juegos Olímpicos de Beijing 2008, China.
Dijo que la preparación de Féliz, Santos y Ogando la dirige el doble monarca olímpico y mundial Félix Sánchez, mientras que el viaje fue costeado por el programa Creando Sueños Olímpicos (CRESO).
Suero Correa dijo que en Castellón se encuentran la doble ganadora de presea de plata en las olimpiadas de Tokio 2021, Marileidy Paulino, Anabel Medina, también integrante del relevo mixto 4×400 que obtuvo la plata en la cita japonesa y el atleta olímpico Yancarlos Martínez. El técnico cubano Yassen Pérez tiene a su cargo la preparación de este trío de atletas.
Solo Marileidy, Yancarlos y el relevo 4×400 mixto están clasificados para el Mundial de Oregon 2022, Estados Unidos, que se disputará del 15 al 24 de julio.
Sin embargo, sostuvo que el país todavía tiene la posibilidad de clasificarse en los relevos 4×100 y 4×400, en las dos ramas.
El XIX Campeonato Iberoamericano de Atletismo se celebrará del 20 al 22 de mayo en el estadio olímpico de La Nucia, España, con la confirmada participación de 502 atletas de 21 países.
Suero Correa también agradeció la cooperación del gobierno del presidente Luis Abinader, a través del Ministerio de Deportes y de su incumbente, el ingeniero Francisco Camacho.
Puntualizó que en víspera del Mundial de Oregon, los atletas vendrán al país para tener unas últimas participaciones a nivel local en el Campeonato Nacional Superior y el Clásico Félix Sánchez.
